Cersei Lannister isan admirable and inspiring person
to a certain degree.
When she tells Ned Stark,”In the game of thrones
you win or you die.”
She chooses to respond to Ned Stark’s encouragement
that she grab her children and run to the Summer Isles
by standing strong in the face of Ned’s threat.
She shows Ned very quickly
that she has the courage to lead.
We may not completelyagree with the decisions
she makes to achievethat leadership position but
we have toadmire her courage.
We have to admire her commitment to not be limited
in the way that her family and others
in King’s Landing want to limit her.
She continues to say,
“I am the one that is going to lead.”
and find her way forward.
Part of that is sheis very effective at getting resources.
Her flaw as a leader is
she doesn’t build strong relationships with people
who can offer her support otherthan through her ability to pay them.
She limits her potential because she is very hungry
to keep herself at the top of the pyramid of power.
Now we might not completely approve
of her use of wildfire to blow up theScept of Baelor
and kill so many people we find admirable.
We can at least recognize her courage
and can commitment to find her way forward against the resistance of people
that are trying to use their power to overcome her
