10大非常容易学的语言

Top 10 Incredibly EASY LANGUAGES to Learn

Hello, I am Simon Whistler.
大家好 我是西蒙•惠斯勒
You are watching TopTenz.
你正在观看的是TopTenz
Next in the video today, we are looking at the top ten
今天的视频 我们要为你盘点
incredibly easy languages to learn.
10种非常容易学的语言
10. Spanish
第十名 西班牙语
Spanish is a major, major world language.
西班牙语是世界主要语言之一
If world languages were a high school,
如果全世界的语言组成一所高中
then Spanish would be the laid-back popular kid
那西班牙语就是那个随和而受欢迎的学生
all the other kids want to hang on with.
其他所有语言都乐意和他交朋友
(English would be the frat dude who insists on
而英语就是兄弟会里那个情绪高亢的家伙
chanting “USA! USA!” while everyone’s trying to talk).
别人交谈时 他大喊着:美国!美国!
Most of Central and South America speaks Spanish,
中南美洲的大部分地区说西班牙语
as does Equatorial Guinea in Africa and, err, Spain.
而非洲赤道几内亚的西班牙语并不正规
Simply put, if you learn Spanish,
简言之 学会西班牙语
you’re unlocking a heck of a lot of the world for yourself.
你就能畅行世界上的许多地方
So why is Spanish easy for English-speakers?
所以 为何英语母语者学西班牙语很容易呢
Well, both Spanish and English incorporate a whole lot
因为西班牙语和英语的词汇中
of Latin into their vocabulary.
都吸收了很多拉丁语成分
The structure is fairly simple, too.
西班牙语的句子结构也很简单
While there are some differences
两种语言的不同在于
(you’d say “the car red” instead of “the red car”, for example),
西班牙语的语序是“这车红色的” 而非“这辆红色的车”
they’re pretty easy to wrap your head around.
很容易区别吧
Then there’s the ease with which you can practice.
实际练习起来也很容易
Just about everybody living in the USA has access to
因为几乎所有的美国居民
Spanish-language cable TV,
都能收看西班牙语有线电视
so soaking up that sweet vocabulary is super-easy.
所以 学习西班牙语词汇时会超级简单
9. Portuguese
第九名 葡萄牙语
Compared to other colonial powers, Portugal
和其它殖民力量相比
didn’t have a particularly important legacy.
葡萄牙并没在它的殖民地留下太多痕迹
But it’s greatest impact just happened to be in one of the largest countries in the Americas.
但美洲地区的一个大国是个例外
Brazil is massive, a regional economic titan that
说的就是面积不小的巴西
sprawls across nearly 50 percent of South America.
巴西这个区域经济巨头蜿蜒了南美洲的近一半
It has over 200 million residents, one of
巴西人口超过两亿
the greatest soccer teams on Earth,
有世界上数一数二的足球队
and a huge amount of natural beauty.
还有美不胜收的自然风光
All of this is supremely easy to access.
葡萄牙语也非常好学
Portugal is closely-related to Spain
葡萄牙语和西班牙语关系紧密
with all the advantages that entails.
该有的优点一点不少
In our high school analogy,
举个例子吧 在我们这所语言高中
Portugal is basically Spanish’s shy but friendly cousin
葡萄牙语就像西班牙语的害羞而友好的堂兄
everyone secretly has the hots for.
大家对这一点心知肚明
The flip-side of this is that if you already know Spanish,
缺点就是 如果你已经学了西班牙语
then Portuguese is harder to initially get to grips with.
那葡萄牙语入门时就很难
This is because the two languages are stuffed with ‘false friends’,
因为两种语言“面和心不和”
words that sound identical but carry very different meanings.
听起来发音一样 意思却千差万别
So you might construct a perfect restaurant order in Spanish,
所以你用流利的西班牙语点餐
only to find you’ve accidentally asked to spend a filthy
说出来的意思却是要勾搭服务员的妻子
evening with your waiter’s wife (or whatever).
大概就是这种情况
8. French
第八名 法语
We’re gonna let you in on a secret.
悄悄告诉你个秘密
If a language falls into the ‘romance’ category,
如果一种语言和浪漫挂上钩
then it’s gonna be easy for you to master.
那学起来可就容易多了
And ‘romance’ is a category French doesn’t just belong to;
但并不是说法语很浪漫
it’s a way of summing up France’s entire cultural ethos.
而是法国的整体文化氛围很浪漫
French is the prettiest, most-sophisticated girl at school.
法语就好比是学校里那个美丽而精致的姑娘
The good-looking dude who knows he’s the coolest in class.
或者班上那个知道自己最酷的英俊小伙
It’s a language that once was perhaps the most-important on Earth.
昔日的法语可能是世界上最重要的语言
Although those days are gone, it’s still Kind of a Big Deal.
尽管盛年不再 但法语的地位仍不可撼动
Want to travel to Morocco, Algeria, the Congo,
你想去哪儿旅行?
Belgium, Switzerland or Haiti?
摩洛哥 阿尔及利亚 刚果 比利时 瑞士还是海地?
Learn French.
学法语吧
Want to impress the pants off your next boyfriend/girlfriend?
想让对象对你刮目相看吗?
Learn French.
学法语吧
We’re not sure how much clearer we can make this.
我说的还不够明白吗
French is freakin’ cool.
法语简直酷毙了
Once again, French incorporates a lot of Latin words.
还有 法语吸收了大量拉丁语词汇
It also has a strong history with English.
和英语也颇有渊源
In 1066, William the Conqueror stomped on England
1066年 征服者威廉一世入侵英国
and made medieval French the lingua franca of the ruling classes.
这一时期 法语在英国成了统治阶级的通用语
That influence can still be felt today,
法语词汇对英语的影响一直持续至今
in words like encore, serviette and coup d’etat.
比如encore, serviette, coup d’etat等法语词
In total, English incorporated over 10,000 words from French.
汇总一下 英语吸收的法语词汇超过了10,000个
7. Italian
第七名 意大利语
Italy never quite acquired the global clout its cousins did.
意大利语和亲戚们不一样 它并没有全球影响力
Today, learning Italian pretty much restricts your travels to Italy.
如果不懂意大利语 到当地旅游就会很麻烦
Lucky for you, Italy just happens to be one of the
不过幸运的是
most-cultured, historically-important,
意大利有丰厚的文化历史底蕴
and beautiful countries on Earth.
是世界上最美丽的国家之一
Italy is the reason you can learn Spanish, Portuguese and French with such ease.
你之所以能轻松习得西班牙语 葡萄牙语 法语 全是意大利的功劳
It was the Romans who spread out and brought Latin to these countries,
是罗马人传播并引入拉丁语至这些国家
stamping their mark on everywhere from
是罗马人雁过留痕才有了这些小语种
modern-day Britain, to Libya, to Syria, to Germany.
英国 利比亚 叙利亚 德国都有罗马人的足迹
Spanish is essentially just a bastardized descendant of ‘Vulgar Latin’,
西班牙语本质上是“通俗拉丁语”的私生子
the language used by the grunts and soldiers of the Empire.
罗马帝国的民众和士兵是通俗拉丁语的使用者
This means there’s a whole lot in common between the two modern tongues,
所以现今的西班牙语方言和意大利语方言很像
one especially pronounced if you happened to learn Argentinian Spanish,
特别是发音上 如果你学过阿根廷西班牙语
which has a rhythm more suited to the backstreets of
你就知道它和那不勒斯后街小巷的德语有多像
Naples than the sidewalks of Madrid.
就连马德里大街上的西班牙语也没有这种相似度
Perhaps the biggest advantage to learning Italian
或许学习意大利语的最大优势就是
is just how much awesome culture you get to unlock.
你能解锁意大利了不起的文化
From Dante’s Divine Comedy, to the films of Federico Fellini,
从但丁的《神曲》到费德里科•费里尼的电影
Italian is the language of some of the world’s most kickass masterpieces.
意大利语简直是惊世神作
6. Swedish
第六名 瑞典语
Let’s step away from the sunny climes of southern Europe.
和南欧的阳光明媚比起来
Sweden is a completely different kettle of (fermented) fish.
瑞典完全是另一番天地
A cold, snow-bound country in the darkest reaches of Northern Europe,
位于北欧的此地天气寒冷 白雪覆盖 白天时间短
it’s about as removed from our previous languages as rotten herring is from pasta.
就像对待意大利面中的腐烂鲱鱼一样 瑞典语在以往的语言中被剔除了
Yet, crucially, it isn’t all that removed from English.
但关键是 瑞典语和英语之间还是有联系的
See, English doesn’t just have Latin roots;
因为 英语不属于拉丁语系
it also has Germanic.
它属于日耳曼语系
And Swedish is a prime example of a Germanic language.
而瑞典语是日耳曼语的一种
For learners, this translates to a language that’s comparatively simple.
对学习者来说 翻译起来比较简单
Aside from shared words (like midnatt for midnight),
英语和瑞典语除了词汇相似
the two languages have a similar grammar,
语法也很相似
meaning mastering Swedish is essentially an exercise in remembering lots of vocabulary.
所以学好瑞典语的关键就是大量背单词
As a special extra treat, the verbs don’t change much.
还好 瑞典语的动词形式不多变
So while English speakers would say
所以用英语说:
“I speak English, he speaks English,”
我说(speak)英语 他(speaks)说英语
a Swede would just say
相应的瑞典语表达为:
“I speak Swedish, he speak Swedish.”
我说(speak)英语 他(speak)说英语
So what are the advantages of learning Swedish?
那么学习瑞典语有什么好处呢?
Well, not many, if you hope to travel the globe;
如果你想靠它环游世界 那你想多了
Swedish is spoken by only 10m or so people,
因为瑞典语的使用者大约有1千万
nearly all of them in Sweden.
他们几乎都住在瑞典
If you want to live in one of Europe’s most
不过你要是想去欧洲最古老的国家
pristine countries, though, it’s a no-brainer.
明摆着就是瑞典嘛
5. Norwegian
第五名 挪威语
Norwegian is the closest we have in the modern day to being able to speak Viking.
维京海盗说的差不多就是今天的挪威语
That alone should be reason enough to study it.
你想学习挪威语 这个理由难道不够
But if you’re not swayed by manly beards, manly helmets with manly horns,
如果你对男子气概十足的胡须 头盔 号角无感
or man-punching your way across the seven seas,
也不想以男人的铁拳横扫七大洋
then there’s at least one other good man-justification.
那么还有一个学习挪威语的正当理由:
Norwegian is easy for English-speakers to learn.
挪威语对英语母语者来说很简单
Another Germanic language,
它也是日耳曼语言的一种
Norwegian shares all the positives of Swedish,
瑞典语有的好处它一样不少
while being even simpler.
甚至比瑞典语还简单
The grammar is close to English,
挪威语的语法和英语很接近
while verbs are easy to master
动词也很好掌握
(there’s little change depending on the context).
动词形式只有少量变化
Again, there are a lot of closely-related words.
还有 挪威语和英语有很多相似词汇
Again, the rhythm and emphasis are not too dissimilar.
甚至 节奏和重音相差也不大
In a broad study conducted at the turn of the 21st century,
21世纪之交的一份广泛的研究报告指出
the Federal government declared Norwegian
美国联邦政府曾表示
one of the easiest languages for Americans to learn.
美国人最早学习的外语就是挪威语
There is a downside to all this.
挪威语现在大不如前
Not only is Norway’s population under 6 million,
挪威的人口不足600万
about 95% of them speak perfect English.
其中倒有95%说一口漂亮的英语
The language is taught at all school levels.
英语是挪威学校的必修课
Meeting a Norwegian who doesn’t speak English is
遇到一个不会说英语的挪威人简直
almost as rare as meeting an American who is fluent in Norwegian.
和遇到一个挪威语很溜的美国人的概率一样低
4. Esperanto
第四名 世界语
Esperanto is the most widely-spoken made-up language in the world.
世界语是世界上使用最广泛的人造语言
Yup, even Klingon and Elvish have fewer devotees
克林贡语和精灵语也比不上它的热度
(perhaps related to Klingon and Elvish being stupidly hard).
可能是因为这两种语言太难了吧
Invented in 1887 by L.L. Zamenhof,
L.L. 柴门霍夫于1887年创造了世界语
it was designed from inception to be crazy easy to pick up.
这种语言入门超级容易
One of Zamenhof’s stated goals was to make a language so simple
柴门霍夫的既定目标之一是创造一种简单的语言
that learning it could be “mere play.”
学它跟“玩儿似的”
To that end, he incorporated different bits from lots of European languages,
所以 他从许多欧洲语言中寻找词汇材料
mashed them all together, simplified them,
将它们糅合在一起 然后再简化
and called it a language.
这样就得到一种新语言
The result is a tongue that sounds strangely familiar,
结果就是 不管之前你是否接触过世界语
whether you’ve ever encountered it before or not.
它听起来都有一种奇怪的熟悉感
Go watch a video of someone talking in Esperanto.
如果去看世界语的视频
And the chances are you’ll find yourself vaguely understanding bits and pieces of it.
你可能发现自己大概能猜出其中的只言片语
In lists like this, we wouldn’t usually include a made-up language,
既然这样 一般我们是不会接受这种人造语言的
because that’s where madness lies.
因为太小儿科了好不好
But Esperanto is in a different league.
但是世界语的使用者并不少
Around 2 million people have some knowledge of it,
大约200万人有相关知识
and it’s estimated that up to 1,000 families may be ‘native’ speakers.
估计有1,000个家庭是地道的世界语使用者
For comparison, that’s more native speakers
和实打实的凯尔特语相比
than even an actual language like Cornish has.
世界语的使用人数要远出其右
3. Afrikaans
第三名 南非荷兰语
The language spoken by the descendants of Dutch famers in South Africa and Namibia,
南非和纳米比亚的荷兰农民后代使用这种语言
Afrikaans has a long and turbulent history.
南非荷兰语的历史又长又乱
For some Boers, it is an integral part of their identity,
对荷兰农民来说 这种语言是构成他们自身完整性的一部分
a way of planting their flag in a culture
也表明了在过去20年文化大动荡中
that has changed seismically over the last 20 years.
他们对自己文化的坚守
It’s also the African language that English speakers stand the greatest chance of learning.
对英语母语者来说 南非荷兰语是学起来比较容易的非洲语言
For example, the sentence “what is that?”
例如英语句子“what is that?”(那是什么?)
translates, unbelievably, to wat is dit?
翻译成南非荷兰语就是“wat is dit?”
Afrikaans exists somewhere between Dutch and English,
南非荷兰语介于荷兰语和英语之间
while being simpler than both.
又比它们都简单
The grammar is logical and consistent,
南非荷兰语的语法兼具逻辑性和一致性
with none of the weird exceptions English insists on throwing in.
英语中那些奇怪的特殊用法它也没有
The verbs are also super-easy.
南非荷兰语的动词也很容易掌握
While in English we use dream, dreamed and dreamt
英语中“梦想”这个动词有三种形式: dream, dreamed, dreamt
to all mean the same thing in different contexts,
具体用法视情况而定
Afrikaans would simply use ‘dream’.
而在南非荷兰语中这个词只有一种形式:dream
Again, Afrikaans isn’t a great traveling language.
不过 南非荷兰语不是称职的旅游语言
You’re pretty much restricted to just two countries in southern Africa.
它的适用范围仅限于南非的两个国家
On the other hand, if you’ve ever wanted to understand Boer culture
另一方面 如果你想了解荷兰农民文化
or to spend extended time in South Africa,
或者打算在南非逗留一段时间的话
it would almost be crazy not to learn it.
不学习南非荷兰语简直寸步难行
2. Frisian
第二名 弗里斯兰语
Quick, hands up if you’ve ever heard of Frisian?
抢答!听说过弗里斯兰语的请举手?
By our estimate, roughly 90 percent of you just sat on your hands,
据统计 大约90%人没有举手
shook your heads and muttered something like “Fri-wha?”
他们摇摇头小声嘀咕:弗里斯兰语是啥?
That’s OK, don’t sweat it.
别急 不知道也没关系
It’s a pretty obscure tongue.
弗里斯兰语本来就名不见经传
So, to quickly bring us all up to speed:
所以我们来快速普及一下相关知识:
Frisian is the native language of Friesland,
弗里斯兰语是弗里斯兰省的方言
a part of the Netherlands that Americans basically never go to,
这个荷兰小省基本上没有美国人去过
due to its lack of pot and hookers.
因为可能只有禁欲者能忍受那里的条件
It’s spoken by half a million people,
有50万人使用弗里斯兰语
and it’s probably the closest language to English in the world.
这种语言大概是世界上最接近英语的语言
Seriously, Frisian and English were basically the same darn thing until comparatively recently.
说真的 这两种语言原先基本相同
The two languages only started evolving independently 1,200 years ago,
1, 200年前他们才开始各自演变
a long time in terms of getting over your last breakup,
和你走出失恋阴影的时间相比 1,200年太漫长了
but next to nothing on the linguistic timescale.
但在语言学的时间概念上 这点儿时间不值一提
If you’re a native English speaker,
如果你是地道的英语母语者
learning Fries is a simple walk in the park.
那学习弗里斯兰语就像在公园里散步一样简单
While the written form looks more like Dutch,
弗里斯兰语的书面形式很像荷兰语
the spoken form has a near-identical vocabulary,
但在口头表达上
sentence-structure and pronunciation to English.
它的词汇 句子结构 发音都和英语差不多
You’re probably reasonably fluent already,
可能根本不需要报班
without taking a single lesson.
你就可以流利地说出弗里斯兰语
1. Dutch
第一名 荷兰语
Dutch is considered by linguists to be the easiest
语言学家认为
major language for English speakers to understand
荷兰语是英语母语者最早接触到的重要语言
(Frisian’s easier, but by no stretch of the imagination is it ‘major’).
虽然弗里斯兰语更简单 但它的地位和荷兰语没得比
It is spoken in the Netherlands, Belgium, Surinam and the Netherlands Antilles,
荷兰 比利时 苏里南 荷属安地列斯群岛等地使用荷兰语
with about 23 million speakers worldwide.
全世界大约有2,300万荷兰语使用者
It has so much in common with English
荷兰语和英语有很多相同之处
that you can learn it in almost no time at all.
所以你学起来不费吹灰之力
This is the result of a happy historical accident.
这当然得感谢历史上的偶然
While most languages easy for English speakers
这些语言对英语母语者来说都是小菜一碟
incorporate Latin or Germanic root words,
因为它们吸收了拉丁语和日耳曼语的词根
Dutch incorporates both.
而荷兰语兼收两家之词根
This means a staggering amount of Dutch vocabulary
这意味着大量荷兰语词汇
sounds extremely familiar to English speakers,
在英语母语者听起来都很耳熟
with the added bonus that the structure is similar too.
更妙的是 它们的句子结构也相似
Pronunciation is also pretty intuitive,
荷兰语的词汇发音也很直观
aside from the odd, weird vowel sound.
不过有些元音听起来有点儿古怪
Lastly, the grammar is consistent, logical and doesn’t feature any odd
最后 荷兰语的语法具有一致性 逻辑性
(for English speakers) stuff like genders or cases.
没有那些词性 特殊用法之类的古怪东西
For English-speakers, that’s like hitting the Konami Code of language learning.
对英语母语者来说 学习荷兰语就像输入科乐美秘技一样简单
The only downside with Dutch is similar to Norwegian.
唯一的不足之处是 荷兰语和挪威语容易搞混
Nearly everyone in the Netherlands and Belgium speaks fluent English,
几乎所有荷兰人 比利时人都说一口流利的英语
meaning chances to practice your stuttering Dutch are basically non-existent.
也就是说 练习自己结结巴巴的荷兰语的可能性几乎不存在了
