最重要的是 要趁热吃
The most important thing is to eat the ramen while its hot.
专业的拉面馆都会上一碗热气腾腾的拉面
Any good ramen shop will serve you a bowl of ramen that’s smoking hot
拉面煮得太久所以要马上吃掉
and you need to eat it right away because the noodles are overcooking.
这和披萨有点像
Its a lot like pizza.
一个货真价实的纽约客
If you’re a real New Yorker you know that
肯定不会等披萨凉掉再吃
you don’t wait for the pizza to cool down,
而是做好烫嘴的准备趁热吃
you eat it while its hot and you risk burning your mouth.
拉面也是一样的
Ramen is absolutely the same.

你要吃出声音
You need to slurp.
这能让面条冷却
What it does is cool down the noodles.
不要夹太多面条
Don’t fight the noodles.
只夹少于你想吃的分量
Take a little less than you think you wanna eat.
夹太多就不能发出哧溜哧溜的声音
You want to pull them out from the pile cause otherwise you’ll never be able to slurp.

如果你第一次吃 先别急着放调料
easy on the toppings if you’re a first timer.
所以 第一次点拉面来份简单的
So when you order your first bowl of ramen ever, just get it simple.
先尝尝看 自己喜不喜欢
Taste it, see if you really like ramen.
然后再加调料
And then you can start dumping on the toppings
并尝试店里的当日招牌
and going for the shop’s special of the day.
别忘了喝水
Don’t forget to hydrate.
我曾经去过东京的一家拉面馆
I’ve been to ramen shops in Tokyo
吃完后整个脸都被咸得肿了起来
where afterwards my whole face is swollen with salt.
这是人的本能反应吧 所以多喝水
Its just the nature of the beast, so drink up.
用勺子喝汤
吃拉面总会有一个糟糕的勺子
Ramen comes with a terrible spoon.
这个勺子叫莲华 源自中国
It’s called a Renge, Chinese in origin.
非常适合小勺舀汤
Its a great way to be able to dip it into the bowl.
但在日本非常酷 直接把碗拿起来喝
But in Japan its totally cool to just pick up the bowl and drink from it.
还有 一天结束了就摆脱条条框框
And remember, there are no real rules at the end of the day.
放松一下 尽情欢乐
You’re letting your hair down, you want to have fun.

Get splashy, get noisy, get messy,
重要的是吃得开心
but most importantly enjoy yourself.
