In this episode,
这一集
we are going to talk about how to stand out during interviews.
An interview might be by phone.
It could be by video.
It could be face to face.
You might need to submit an online test or sit a psychometric or aptitude test.
You might be there for half day for an assessment center.
So you need to know what to expect from the start.
For me, the most important thing whether it’s at a video interview stage,
or whether it’s when you’re in the office being interviewed by people at PwC,
we’re looking about for people who are real.
So we don’t like try answers.
We don’t like surface level answers.
We don’t… We like answers what people have thought about it
and are showing some of themselves in it,
not textbook answers.
But things that they think about and that they believe.
And we also want to see that people can think on their feet,
not just things they might have prepared.
What will a viewer often do in an interview
is also ask people for experiences that didn’t go so well.
And that forces somebody to think about
an opportunity or an activity that they had that wasn’t that successful.
And people who are straight forward and honest
and replying about those things.
On thought of that somebody who would be a good person that you might wanna consider.
Tip No.1 is don’t remain silent.
Don’t leave it to the interviewer to ask all the questions.
People like somebody in the interview to ask their own questions
and ask for information.
Don’t sit back and wait
and answer questions simply and easily.
Ask! People want to know,
what you want to know,
and make it a fully interactive opportunity.
I think the mistake a lot of students make
is they have some ideas about what they might say,
but they haven’t talked out loud.
But you know what,
you can video your friends on the mobile phone
or video yourself on a mobile phone,
and watch it back.
Because until you vocalize,
you don’t know what you sound like,
you don’t really know what you’re going to say,
you haven’t thought it through or planned it.
So I think, you know, the important thing to remember
is that the interview process is usually only one part of the time
that you spend at the office.
So, how you interact with everyone
that you’re coming to contact with during the day.
Whether it’ll be people who are from the HR area,
perhaps with the other candidates,
whether with the person who’s on the reception when you first check in,
they’re going to all take some view in relation to you.
That’s all for this episode.
