Primitive Technology: Wood Ash Cement

桉树(任何树都行)
Eucalyptus tree (any tree will do)
掉落的树皮和树叶窑
Fallen bark and leaves
放热煤
The kiln Hot coals Burning a lot
烧很多材料来取得灰烬
of material for its ash
灰烬落在炉排上
Ash falls through grate
细白的灰烬 几乎没有木炭
Fine white ash with nearly no charcoal in it
将灰烬加入水中
Adding ash to water
搅拌均匀 倒掉含有钾肥的多余水分
Stir well Tip off excess water containing potash
保留含有不溶性氢氧化钙
Retain the paste which contains the
和碳酸钙的糊状物
insoluble calcium hydroxide and calcium carbonate
压成丸子
Compress into pellet
把它带到锻造厂(大点的窑也可以)
Take it to the forge (a kiln would also do on a larger scale)
用旺火加热泥丸
Heat the pellet to an orange heat
提取丸子并让其冷却
Extract the pellet and let it cool
将丸子(生石灰)放进水里结合来产生氢氧化钙
Slake pellet in water
搅拌
Stir
粉碎旧的赤陶瓷砖(来自之前的项目)
Crush up old terracotta tiles (from previous project)
添加赤陶作为骨料(沙子或砾石应该也行 虽然我只试过红陶)
Add terracotta as aggregate (sand or gravel may also work though I’ve only tested this type)
塑形
Form into shape
这个是我3天前准备的
Here’s one I prepared 3 days earlier
它变硬了
It has set hard
最重要的是它不溶于水
Most importantly it will not dissolve in water
