Smart Objects is one of the most powerful and yet

least understood features in Photoshop.

So, first, let’s look at a standard file.

This is a standard high-res 22.9-megabyte image.

If I double-click on my Zoom tool,

we can zoom in

and see that there’s lots of detail.

Let’s fit that to screen,

we’ll select all of it.

And we are gonna transform it down.

And this is something that happens all the time.

You take your file,

you might use it for the web or something else.

It gets merged down.

The problem is,

if I go to transform this later,

and as I pull this up,

I see there’s really low-res.

Ok, so let’s cancel this out,

And when we transform this down,

and then transform it up.

We have access to the full resolution original file.

We can go to the same size

or even larger.

If we went larger,

we’ll see
原图片大小 在左边
on the left is the original size.
调大后新图片大小 在右边
on the right is the new larger size.
于是 我们获得原图片文件的引用文件 并能对其进行调整
So we’ve got a reference to the original file that we’re changing.
另一件事 虽然通常情况下 无法达成 但是 凭借“智能对象” 却能实现
Another thing we can do with the Smart Object that we can’t normally do
这就是 我们借此 能形成“滤镜图层”
is we have what’s essentially filter layers.
其不同于“一般滤镜” 对图片直接起效
Instead of filter been baked onto an image,
我们可以先返回 事后再调整它的参数
we can go back and change its parameters afterwards.
那么 如果来到“滤镜”菜单
So if I come up to my Filter menu,
我会看到“转化为智能滤镜”选项
I’ll see that Convert for Smart Filters
呈现为灰色
is greyed out.
这里几乎所有的“滤镜”功能 都能使用
And almost all of my filters are available here.
让我们使用“锐化”功能
Let’s use Sharpen
来作为演示
as an example.

If I come in here

and let’s apply a really aggressive sharpen.

I click “OK” for that,

and maybe that looks all right to me.

And to do that, I’m gonna step over to Bridge

to look at multiple images.

Ok, so this looks like seven shots
像同一张图片
of the exact same photo.
实际上 它们彼此不同
They’re actually seven different photos.
如果 我点击图片
If I click on that,
敲击“空格键”(全屏显示快捷键)
hit the Spacebar,
把这些图片逐张切换
and toggle through these,
你们会注意到 轻微的移位
you’ll notice that the alignment shifts slightly,
还有“噪点杂色”
and so does the noise.
这些图片 是我故意在低光下拍摄的
I purposely shot these in low light,
以便 可以产生出这些“噪点杂色”
so that I can create noisy images.

All right, let’s pop back to Photoshop,

and look at how we can get rid of that noise using Smart Ojbects.

We’ll come up to my File menu,

go down to Scripts,

and Load Files into Stack.

It’s the same thing as Loading Files into Layers.

And we’re gonna Browse

to our seven images.
按住“Shift”点击
Shift+Click ,
来选中它们
to select those
Photoshop软件向我们 提供了两种选择
and Photoshop is gonna offer us two options

that are both exactly what we want.

One, align all of those images.

And two, create a Smart Object after loading them.

This is the feature that’s really been embraced by astro photographers.

People we were taking long exposures of the night sky

need to get rid of dust, moisture, hot pixels, and eerie bits and pieces that are moving around between their images.

Ok, so if I double-click on my Zoom tool,

that will take it into 100%.

And we can confirm that those seven images have a wrapper around them.

And they are still very noisy.

Let’s move into 300%,

so we can really see what we are working with.

And again, these are really, really noisy images.

I took them in almost no light at all.

I knew there would be a problem.

But what I can do is come up here,

and under Smart Objects,

I have all of these Stack options.

They are essentially running math on those stacks of images.

not only does it do that,

I have completely removed the noise by stacking these images.

It’s just a different way of looking at them.

Let’s back up to 100%

and toggle,

and you can really see the difference.
