Entrepreneur.com is at the wonder factory that digital design agency
is rumored to have one of the coolest office spaces in New York.
Its interior design is full of details
that are meant to spark creativity and collaboration.
Let’s learn all about it.
– 嗨 大卫- 嗨 塔尼娅 欢迎来到梦幻工厂
-Oh hi David.-Hi Tanya, welcome to the wonder factory.
Thanks for having us here, this looks like a fascinating space.
could you just start off with the founders’office?
– 当然 跟我来- 好的
-Sure, come my way.-Great.
This is our office, and this is my co-founder Joe McCambley.
– 嗨 乔- 嗨 大家好
-Hi Joe.-Hi everybody.
So could you just tell us about, you know,
the special design elements of the founder’s office?
Will you tell us about the wonder factory first?
Well, you know that this is actually 20th anniversary working together David.
We started to work and moved into here in 1994.
We spent some time at AI well managing internal critically prepared,
and we took nine years in wonder factory.
– 太酷了- 让我给你介绍一下办公室大体的情况
–Cool. –So let me tell you more about the office in general.
– 好- 尽管现在很多人都用数字化技术沟通
-Sure.-So although a lot of people communicate digitally,
你知道 他们几乎 全天都是这样的情况 包括我们的合伙人
you know, throughout day, you know, the co-workers here,
one thing that we want to do is also have them connected physically,
so we did this through the wood in the office starting in the co-founders’desk.
you know, going right through this wall here, underneath the cushions,
down this side of the shelf onto the floor,
there is one piece of wood travels across the whole offices,
across all the desks through in the office,
up to the cell and down,
in order to connect people physically throughout the office,
but as well, to hopefully get the energy, and the creative,
kind of juices going between to each person who sitting on their desks.
Oh that’s very symbolic,
and this wall looks very busy as well?
Yeah we have video monitors throughout the office,
and we do use them for two things,
一是 有客户来 这里就播放其品牌商标
one, when clients come here we’d like to make them feel at home
by putting their brands on them,
and more importantly, we’d like to have the employees, the ability of kind of DJ though,
and they get to put images and videos on there, each person gets a different month,
intends to inspire the other people around in the office.
Great, well, this shelf looks even busier than that wall,
could you tell me what’s going on here?
好 这是我们的角色墙 我们要做的是
Sure, this is our character wall, and what we do is
when employee gets tired, whether they are freelance or full-time,
we ask them to choose a character that inspires them,
and we try our hardest to find them on e-bay, some characters even don’t exist.
And it’s a great way for, you know, the employees to be physically part of the office,
as well as for them to kind of teach people about them through the characters that they choose,
so it’s a great way to find out,
and a great conversation to start off for new people.
Sure, and what’s your favorite character on this shelf?
Ummm, I’d say, Darth Vader.
Cause we got a lot of geeks on this office.
(laughs)Great, so now you are taking us to a completely different part of the office?
Yeah, for the first couple of years we had this side of the office, and then we expanded in
to the other building and connected the two, and this is where most of our creativity happens,
and we want to have a very different look, we want it to be much more colourful, bolder and eclectic.
Well I definitely see colour and boldness here.
Yeah, so this room is our playroom, cause play is really important to creativity and brainstorming,
a lot of our clients are entertained when doing businesses,
so it was inspired by Mary Poppins with the umbrellas,
这里有一整套游戏系统 视频 HD吧
we got a full game system, and videos, we also had a HD Bar,
the dinning room table where people often eat lunch together
and sometimes dinner for working late,
but it’s a great space for people to have kind of collaborate on,
and kind of have relaxed and kind of get together.
Great! Well, let’s step up the bar, looks like it gets useful for Fridays, (sure) at five o’clock.
Well, this looks like it’s all about business as well, what’s going on here?
是 这是我们的创作墙 就像
Yeah, this is our creat wall, so great much like
art school, this is where we put up all our work,
and it’s a great way to compare different streams,
but it’s also great place for the people who work here to kind of,
you know, make suggestions and critic the work that’s up there,
so that everyone can get involved in every project.
Great, meanwhile, this corner makes me feel like
I’m in miracle, what’s going on with this corner over here?
So this corner is pretty special to us, cause this is a representation of the restaurant that
me and Joe McCambley wanted when we decided to found the wonder factory nine years ago.
It’s also a great space for people to kind of have more personal kind of smaller meeting,
and where they can kind of sit back or relaxed, their postures would be different,
so it’s a very different kind of meeting and it’s better than as well
a traditional bussiness conference that we have as well.
Great, I just brings a new layer of different colors
as well to this already dynamic crew,
Yes, color is a stimulation,
where you can see that we get a lot of ideas as that we did.
Yes, and the tone of art work as well?
True, this mirror on the wall over here was created by one of our crafted designers and
it goes from kind of an outersome wonderland to an urban outersome wonderland,
took about four months to create by him.
It’s really fascinating, so that’s really a creative room,
but this room coming up looks like it’s a quo-different story,
what do you call this room?
So this is we call the hell room,
we have painted red walls, the flaming table,
some really incomfortable throne chairs
and we did that on purpose in order to have kind of shorter meetings,
so that we can kind of spend more time working on project rather than just talking about them.
so it’s very important that this room stays like 15-minute, 20-minute meeting room.
Okay, perplexingly terrifying and uncomfortable.
Great, well I see that you have a lot of creative elements here,
but you know when it comes to grand fidelity,
how do you top all these unique rooms?
It seems as that each has its own theme and
when you have guests here,
how do you give them that final vowel?
So the last room I’m gonna take you into is our library.
Joe is also an entertainer and
this is our 1930s theme library
and it’s the only room that you can’t book,
so it’s the only room that people came before conference and
喝点酒 看看书 当然也能
it’s a place that people who come can kind of on wine, read,
play the piano of course.
and it was inspired by our work with Light Magazine.
They give us photos that we really want the theme room
that magic kind of feeling like the room back in time.
Great, well, it looks like New Jersey place to Lunged and wind down as well
as spring storms some more.
Yes, and the books are also really nice, we have books
around interesting that we are working onto
but also there is one thing we have nothing to do with the interesting
cause that inspiration comes from everywhere.
Great, so how do you exhibit this luxurious…
So in order to get some meetings quicker,
we had this secret door that goes back to my office,
cause being on time is really important,
so let’s go through there,
And we are back at square one.
Yes, so we are back at our office
and look and check out this way.
well thank you David for teaching us all about coolest startling spaces
cause now we know it’s not just about big windows and wide boards.
Thanks to the wonder factory, I’m Tanya.
Pleach with the Entrepreneur.
