Very interesting news,
the NBA is changing the format of the All-Star Game.
This year it’s gonna be a playground style pick up,
where captains are gonna select who’s gonna be on their team,
so the top two vote-getters from the East and the West will be the captains.
Last season that was LeBron James and Steph Curry,
so they’re gonna pick one at a time, they’re gonna schoolyard pick them.
You’re gonna see guys on the East playing on the West.
It’s possible for teammates to go up against each other in the All-Star Game.
And just like on the playground,
sometimes you pick a guy because of the relationship that you have with them.
So it’ll be interesting to see what these NBA players do,
what type of teams they try to come up with.
The NBA hasn’t given us any details on how this draft is gonna happen.
Is it gonna be at All-Star Weekend? Is it gonna be before?
Is it gonna be its own special televised event?
They haven’t said that yet,
but the starters will be announced on January 18th,
and the reserves on January 23rd.
The coaches for the All-Star Game will be selected the same way they’ve always been.
The coaches with the best record in each conference two weeks before the game
will get that honor.
Now it’s also possible that starters that were voted into the game
might not start depending on how the teams are picked.
Fan voting returns, and it’ll be 50 percent of the vote just like it was last year.
The players have a vote which is worth 25 percent,
and then the media also has a vote for the All-Star Game,
which is worth another 25 percent.
Let me know what you think of these changes in the comments section.
Does this make the All-Star Game more interesting for you?
Or is the NBA fixing something that isn’t broken?
