Yeah, um……
I don’t know what that is.
But yeah.
It’s not so western.
It’s very Asian though.
But that’s why I don’t know it.
Yeah, me either.
It’s a really a difficult picture for us.

That is a rubber.
That’s an eraser.
就是”eraser”
That’s an eraser.
I mean we call it rubber too, but we…
No, rubber is not, that’s not a rubber.
It rubs something out.
It erases.
Those are made out of rubber.
Also, in English, “rub something out” is also very different!
这是”fries”
And these are fries.
Cause these are thin version, but bigger version is a chip.
French Fries”
These are French Fries.
These are chips.
These are French Fries. Sometimes chips.
Always they say fries, actually.
But then I pick up one of these chips and then you have my chips as well.
French Fries”
Give it all French Fries.
But there’re different words for them.
We don’t discriminate.
这是个”petrol station”
This is a petrol station.
这是个”gad station”
This ia a gas station.
They put it in Asia, this is a petrol station.

– We put “O” on the end of the letter.- Serv-O.
– Yes.
-Why are your words made up?-They’re not made up, alright?
It’s a service station.
Servo
You can short it by saying Servo.
That is just a petrol station because if they got like a tiny shop.
– Yeah. -But a bit complex.
– Yeah,- Okay,
– Even we call it a rest stop. But yeah, I know what she is talking about.
Yeah, we call it rest stop too.
Noughts & Crosses”
This game is Noughts & Crosses.
Tic―Tac―Toe”
This game is Tic-Tac-Toe.
对 “Tic―Tac―Toe”
Yeah, that’s Tic-Tac-Toe.
Yeah, Tic-Tac-Toe. It’s 3-to-1!
“Noughts and Crosses”
Noughts and Crosses.
It’s a crosses, and it’s a nought!
A knot!?
-A nought, like zero.-Don’t you call it a circle?
No, but it’s Noughts & Crosses.
Bin”-”Trash can”
-A Bin.-Trash can
“Bin”
It’s a Bin
It’s a Bin.3-to…
– No.- Yes.
Trash” -”Rubbish”!
-What do you put in there? Trash.-Rubbish!
-”Trash”还是 “Rubbish”? -”Rubbish”
– Trash or rubbish?- Rubbish.
– Yeah, no one says trash.
– I say trash.- No, you don’t.
一件”vest”
A vest.
那是”singlet”
That’s a singlet.
It’s a singlet yeah…
Is this the one like man wear that’s kind of tight?
– Yeah. – A wife-beater.
“wife beater”?
A wife beater? That’s a very sexy name.
Yeah, that’s a horrible name.
But that’s acceptable to call it that.
Yeah, it’s like you need to go to the store and buy some new wife-beater.
– Dude, have you some wife-beater?- No, of course not.
– That’s so sexiest.
这是” trouses”- ” Pants”-对 ” pants”
– I said that’s trouses. – Pants.
– Yeah, pants.
– Trousers. I should be also use pants.- That’s probably you are underneath your trousers.
– That’s underwear.- Yeah, but that’s pants!
– Underpants.
“Underwear”
Underwear. Because underwear…pants
Suit trousers”?
Would you say trousers for maybe like very fancy pants, like in a suit? Suit trousers?
-”slacks”吧 -对”slacks”
– I feel like slacks. – Yeah, slacks.
– What do you call it?
– Trousers!- So trousers is everything.
– Yeah.- Including working pants?

– But you can use both, you can use pharmacy or you can use chemist.- Yeah, I get that.
There was another word that really confused me when I was learning British.
– British English!- British.
– Like chemist.
Like what is a bit little like a laboratory or what they do at the chemists.

―Chips ―Chips -三比一
– Chips. – Chips.
– Three to one.
Chips
– That’s it.- You’ve been using it a lot.
I think you’re being needlessly specific with differences between chips and crisps.
– These are definitely crisps. You all call it chips.- But why do you call it potato chips or potato crisps?
I think I thought people did say potato crisps.
You don’t need to say potato because you know it’s potato. You only need to specify it’s not.
-trainers - Sneakers或者 tennis shoes
– These are trainers. – Sneakers or tennis shoes.

– So that’s why you hurting me.
-Sneakers
– Sneakers sound like actual people who people who sneaks around.- Sneaks around.
That how we also have tennis shoes.

– Are you sure?- I’m very sure.

– But Brinjal just sounds like a dirty word.- B-R-I-N-J-A-L.
-Brinjal -
– Brinjal. – That’s not English.
