There’s nothing wrong with a small bathroom,

unless it hasn’t seen a renovation in over 30 years.

Now there was nothing charming about this retro bathroom.

The tiles were a mix of brown and cream.

The floors were a green and cream laminate.

The fixtures were yellow.
我虽然比较喜欢有颜色的卫浴家具
And as much as I love a colored fixture,

these were gross.

Now because this is a rental, we wanted to keep it functional,
能够方便我们去清理 节约时间 同时还要节约费用
easy to clean, timeless, and of course, we were on a budget.
经过三个星期的辛苦劳动
Three weeks of hard work.

This is what we’ve got.
首先 我们把淋浴头和浴池这个组合保留了下来
First thing we did to make this functional was to keep the shower/tub combo.
这个浴池只有58英寸
The tub is only 58 inches,
这让我们可以有一些空间 额外放一个壁架
which gave us a bit of space for an extra ledge,
壁架上可以放全部的洗发露以及洗护产品
which is perfect for all your shampoos and products.
对于一个小浴室来说 额外的存储空间很重要
Extra storage is always key in a small bathroom,
所以我们就加了一个毛巾架
so we managed to add a towel rack.

And the rack sits far enough away that it never gets wet.

It’s so cute.
我们把旧的药柜换成另一个可以放东西的柜子
And we replaced the old medicine cabinet with another one that has storage,

because that’s really key in a small bathroom.
让出租屋保持方便清洁很有必要
Keeping it easy to clean was essential in this rental,

and the way we did that was by tiling every single surface,

even the ceiling.

We couldn’t fit a sink with a vanity in the space.

There just wasn’t the room.

and it’s really easy to clean.

Although the square footage of this bathroom is very small,

the ceilings are super high.

And we took advantage of that

by mounting the shower rod at 92 inches.

It really draws your eye up.

And then we picked up the shower curtain ready made off the rack,

and it had this gorgeous fringe on it.

But like most shower curtains off the rack,

it was not long enough.

So we needed to add a band,

which we DIY it in this beautiful blue,

And here’s how we saved a lot of money—

the floor tile we found on clearance at a big-box store.

Because we don’t have a lot of square footage,
三箱就足够了
the three boxes that were there were all we needed.
墙上的瓷砖要更大一点
The tile on the walls are a larger size,

which is perfect because it’s a lot cheaper to install.

And the toilet sink&tub are from American Standard,

and they’re very affordable. They’re great.

There’s one small splurge in this bathroom,
就是灯具
and it was that light fixture.

But it’s LED.

So it saves you energy.

You’re not gonna have to change that bulb.

And it’s dimmable.
