It is not the critic who counts,

not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles

The credit belongs to the man

who is actually in the arena,

whose face is marred bydust and sweat and blood,

who strives valiantly, who errs and comes short again and again.

Because there is not effortwithout error and shortcoming,

but who does actuallystrive to do the deed,

who knows the greatenthusiasm, the great devotion,
献身于一个有价值的事业的人
who spends himself on a worthy cause,
抑或成为极少数知道最终
who, at the best, knows in the end
胜利果实滋味的人 或者
the triumph of high achievement
最不济的 如果他失败了
and who, at the worst, if he fails
至少他是在实践中失败的
at least he fails while demonstrating.
所以这个舞台上永远不会有
So this place shall never be
冷酷又懦弱的灵魂
the first cold and timid souls

that know neither victory nor defeat.

While we can’t be the best at everything,

or at even times, at anything,

what we can choose tohave is moral strength.

I wrote about this beforeI knew I had cancer,

and now I have a whole new spin on it.

Moral strength is aboutmaking a conscious decision

to be a person who doesn’t give up

when it would be easy to.

To do so because the journeywould be less arduous.

Jim Rohn said,”Let otherslead small lives, but not you.

“Let others argue oversmall things, but not you.

“Let others leave their futurein someone else’s hands,

当然 做出这个决定意味着有时
Of course, doing thiswill mean at some point
你不得不面对你对落后的恐惧
you have to face yourfear of falling short.
对表现愚蠢的恐惧 对力量不足的恐惧
A fear of looking like a fool, a fear of not being enough.
如果你如此决定或许你就每天都要面对这些恐惧
And being so, you might admitfacing these fears every day.
但这就是其意义所在
But here’s the thing,
人生的终点便是死亡 所以
none of us get out of life alive,
变得勇敢 变得伟大 变得优雅
so be gallant, be great, be gracious
对你所有的机会心怀感激
and be grateful for theopportunities that you have.
从前人身上学习的机会
The opportunity to learn from the men that walked before you,
从身边的人身上学习的机会
and from those who walk beside you.
我向你们中的每一个人和我自己发出挑战
I challenge to each of you and to myself
不断成长吧 坚持向更好的方向发展吧
just to continue to growand to develop for better.
其实未来就在我们手中
The future is truly in our hands.
忘了那些遥不可及的梦想吧
Forget about long-term dreams.
让我们充满热情地投入短期的目标与小小的志向
Let’s be passionately dedicated to the pursuit of short-term goals, micro ambitions.
怀着对前方的热情和骄傲工作
Work with passion and pride of what is in front of us.
我们不知道我们将终于何处
We don’t know where we might end up
亦不知我们将终于何时
or when it might end up.
我不知道从现在开始我们命运如何
I don’t know where it goes from here for any of us.
对我 抑或是对你 无论我们行至何处 做的是什么
For me, for you, whereverwe go and whatever we do,
愿我们都还是今日在此相聚的朋友
may we always be friends who met here.
