哈喽 大家好
– Hello, everyone.
欢迎回到《和露西一起学英语》
And welcome back to English With Lucy.
大家不要担心
Don’t worry, guys.
这次是我啦
It is me this time.
不是学得很像我
Not my weird Lucy replica in the form of Allie
拥有露西身躯的艾力
for a proper teach me.
那次很逗
That was a lot of fun.
很高兴你们会喜欢
I’m glad you liked it.
评论的反应是真的超赞的
The response was honestly hilarious
我被瞬间燃爆
I had a blast
那么谁已经在和《和露西说英语》的最一开始
So who has been with me since the very beginning
就和我一起了呢
of English With Lucy?
没有多少人吧
Not many people.
曾经看我节目的人很少
I had, well, I had very few
我花了几个月的时间 使订阅者达到了一千人
It took me a couple of months to get to 1000 subscribers
但我第二个视频叫
But my second video was a video called
《怎样学习和记住英语单词》
How to Learn and Remember Vocabulary.
那个视频有点儿乱
The video is a little bit disorganised.
那是我第二次制作视频
It was my second video ever
那时我才21岁
I was 21 years old
非常渴望能够通过YouTube
and I was eager to get onto You Tube
分享我所拥有的知识
and share this knowledge that I had
但那个视频反响真的很好
But the video’s done really really well
但是回顾那个视频
but looking back at the video,
我想补充一些新的内容
there are some updates that I would like to add on
因为那个视频会教你如何
because that teaches you how
学习和记住单词
to learn and remember vocabulary
那方法很棒
It’s a great method.
但它没有教你如何延伸
But it doesn’t teach you how to expand
和拓展你的词汇
and widen your vocabulary
那基本上可以帮助
which is something that could benefit
所有学习者
basically everyone.
我想在母语方面上来扩充我的词汇量
I want to expand my vocabulary in my mother tongue
也就是英语
my native language which is English
也想拓展我的第二(西班牙语)
And also want to expand my vocabulary in my second
和第三语言(意大利语)
and third languages Spanish and Italian
还有葡萄牙语的词汇
And maybe even Portuguese
如果你还没看过我那关于葡萄牙语的视频
If you haven’t seen my video about Portuguese yet
那就返回去看看
check up there
所以那个视频对母语和非母语学习者
Yeah, so this is a video that will be useful
都很有用
for both native speakers and non-native speakers
我想和你们分享我学到的
I want to share with you some tips that I’ve picked up
一些窍门和建议
some pieces of advice
不是通过那些传统的方法
but it’s not going to be your typical
那个视频叫《怎样提高你的词汇》
How to Improve Your Vocabulary video.
比如 看书
Oh read books
看电影
Oh watch films
我想给你们一些有用的
I want to give you some tips that are really really
你们可能以前也没想到的小窍门
gonna help that you might not have thought of before
所以 请耐心听我说
So bear with me
在我们开始之前
Before we get started
我想感谢今天视频的赞助商
I’d just like to thank the sponsor of today’s video
就是领英

and use the code that’s in the description box as well
好
Right
我们开始今天的内容
Let’s get started with the video
第一个窍门就是不要有挫败感
So my first tip is don’t get overwhelmed
当我想去拓展我的词汇量
When I think I want to expand my vocabulary
我有点不知所措
I feel overwhelmed
我会想 天哪
I just think oh my god
怎会有这么多单词
There are so many words
还有这么多我不会的单词
And there are so many words that I’m lacking in my vocabulary
我怎么可能学得完呢?
How on earth am I going to learn them all?
你要知道到反复咀嚼并且背下整本牛津词典
You need to realise that it’s not humanly possible
对人来说那是不可能的
to swallow and regurgitate the full Oxford Dictionary
除非你能做到“过目不忘”
unless you have a fabulous gag reflex.
开玩笑
Joke
我看了一些视频的评论
I’ve seen a couple of comments on some of my videos
他们说
from people saying
“我喜欢在睡前阅读词典”
“I like to read the dictionary before I go to bed”
如果你有能力去做
which if your mind is capable of doing that
你可以读一点词典
and you can read a little bit of the dictionary
并且每天记一点
each day and take in
哇
wow
那么我向你致敬
I take my hat off to you because that’s
因为你的努力真的让人钦佩
really really impressive amount of dedication
你可以做到
you have there
但是我不能
I personally cannot do that
所以我建议你把学习词汇的目标
So I recommend that you chunk your vocabulary learning
分成三个部分
into three sections
然后把你的时间 精力和努力专注于
and you focus your time and energy and effort into
这三个部分来学习词汇
learning the vocabulary from these three sections
它其实没有听起来那么复杂
It’s not as complicated as it sounds.
第一部分 你感兴趣的话题
Section one topics you are interested in
我对园艺感兴趣
I am interested in gardening
所以我喜欢看跟园艺有关的视频
so I like to watch gardening videos
然后仅是通过看视频和读书
and I have picked up loads and loads and loads of vocabulary
我学到了大量与园艺相关的单词
especially Latin terms for plants
特别是拉丁语中的植物术语
just through watching videos and doing research and reading books
所以 读书 看电影 看视频
So yes reading bookswatching films watching videos
是个很棒的技巧
is a great technique
为确保你的专注
Make sure you’re focusing,
你要选择一个可以帮助你拓展词汇
so you’re choosing a video that will help you
并且你感兴趣的视频
expand your vocabulary and you’re absorbing it
然后你要运用
and then you’re applying what you learned
在我之前的视频里学到的内容
in my previous video
《如何去学习并记住词汇》
How to Learn and Remember Vocabulary
最基本的是 你要写一个词汇日记
Basically, you’re keeping a vocabulary diary
对你不知道的单词
and you’re being reallyreally aware and meticulous
你要认真记
about words that you don’t know already
不要放过任何你不会的单词
Don’t let anything slide
如果有你不懂的词
If you don’t know that word
就去弄懂它
you find out what it means,
然后在你的手机或者书里记下它
and you write it down in your phone or in a book
没事
It doesn’t matter
只要确保你持认真的态度
Just make sure you are meticulous
第二部分 你在日常生活中使用
Section number twovocabulary that you use
和无意中发现的词汇
and come across on a daily basis
为什么我说使用 遇到
Now why do I say use and come across
词汇拓展有两个不同的部分
There’s two different parts of vocabulary expansion
你看见却不知道的单词
There’s seeing a word that you don’t know
就学习它的意思
and learning what it means
而对于你已经认识的单词
But there’s also taking words you already know
找到可以替代它们的说法
and finding alternative ways of saying them
比如说 同义词
Synonyms for example
看同义词真的非常有用
So it’s really, really useful to look into synonyms.
可能会有一些你每天都会使用的单词
There may be words that you’re using every single day.
对于我来说长得像的单词是个很大的问题
For me, a bit of a problem is the word like.
所以你要每天都运用一些单词
So you’re your using some words every day all day.
比如一些长得像的单词
Like the word like, for example.
像长得像的单词(一句示例)
Like the word like.
如果你找到了可以替代的单词
And you will sound much more eloquent
并且在这些单词中来回切换
if you find alternatives,
你就会听起来更加有才
and you switch between the alternatives.
你在日常生活中无意中发现的单词
Words that you come across on a daily basis,
在新闻中发现的
things in the news,
政治术语
political terms.
如果是 你知道的 比如说当Brexit正在播放
If it’s, you know, for example when the Brexit
我会学到很多政治性的词汇
was going on, I learnt loads of political vocabulary
因为我之前会在日常读报纸的时候
because I was coming across the terms on a daily basis.
碰到一些术语
I was reading the newspaper.
我之前一直看新闻
I was watching the news.
我非常清醒地意识到
I was very conscious of the fact that
我没有完全理解(新闻里)播放的内容
I didn’t totally understand what was going on,
所以我要让自己理解
so I made myself understand,
不管是政治层面还是词汇层面
both on a political level and a vocabulary level.
然后第三部分 也是我最喜欢的部分
And section number three, my favourite section,
自然而然的随机的(词汇) 你知道
random spontaneous randomness is, you know,
就是那种你坐在那里就会想
where you sit down and you think,
“我想知道长在狗的腿后面的没什么用的
“I wonder what that extra toe on the back
多余的指头叫什么”
of a dog’s leg that doesn’t work is called.”
你的思绪在漫游
Your brain wanders.
发挥你的优势去利用它
Use it to your advantage.
利用它来提高你的词汇量
Use it to improve your vocabulary
然后找出它的意思
and find out what it means.
现在 说说
Now, the next one,
下一个我想讨论的窍门
the next point that I want to talk about.
我知道我已经说了
I know I’ve already said that I don’t want to say
我不想说看书 看电影
read books, watch films.
但是我要的说的就是看书和看电影
But what I’m going to say is read books and watch films,
但不是用一般的方式
but not in the normal way.
每个人都知道 如果你看一本书
Everyone knows that if you read a book,
你的词汇量就会提高
your vocabulary will improve.
如果你看一部电影
If you watch a film,
你的词汇量会提高
your vocabulary will improve.
我想让你先思考一下
I want you to think first,
你的语言
about in your language,
什么是好的词汇
what is a good vocabulary.
什么会让一个人听起来口才好
What makes one person sound eloquent
而让其他人听起来缺乏教育呢
and another person sound uneducated.
所以我想让你做的是认真地挑选
So I want you to really pick and choose carefully
你要读哪个作家的书
which authors you read
你要听哪个人说的话
and which people you listen to.
现在我的意思不是切断与那些你觉得无知的人的联系
Now I don’t mean cut out people that you find uneducated.
我意思是每天花费几分钟
I mean dedicate a couple of minutes every day,
每隔一天去听听演讲
every other day to listen to talks and read books
看看那些雄辩的人写的书
written by people that speak eloquently.
比如我真的很欣赏斯蒂芬. 弗雷说话的方式
For example, I really admire the way Stephen Fry speaks.
我知道我在很多视频里都提到了他
I know I mentioned Stephen Fry in so many videos,
但是我真的很喜欢他说话的方式
but I love the way he speaks,
所以你知道的 我要上演他的一个演讲或者独白
so I’ll put on, you know, a speech or a monologue from him,
并且我真的会尝试去听
and I’ll really try to listen to
他说话的腔调
you know, elements of his accent,
还有他演讲的内容
but also elements of speech.
他的词汇量 也就是他使用的那些词汇
His vocabulary, the vocabulary that he uses.
就是那些用起来让他能听上去
Which words does Stephen use that make him
非常有教养和口才好的词
sound really, really educated and eloquent.
然后我就会把那些词记下来
And then I’ll note those down,
我会尝试把这些词汇变成我自己的
and I’ll try and implement them into my own vocabulary.
你也可以这么做
And you can do the same.
这种方法在任何语言(的学习)中都会奏效
It will work in any language.
所以我猜你可以把这点概括为
So I guess the way you could summarise that point is
从你想要提高的词汇中
pick and choose reading and listening exercises
挑选阅读和听力的练习
from which you want to improve your vocabulary.
好啦 到了第三个窍门
Okay, number three.
如果你想要提高和拓宽你的词汇量
If you want to improve and widen and expand
以及听起来口才很好
your vocabulary and sound more eloquent,
我希望你能规避
I want you to avoid the most boring word
在英语词典中最无聊的单词
in the English dictionary.
你知道是哪一个词吗?
Do you know which word it is?
就是 “非常” 这个词
The word is very.
噢 天呐
Oh, my god.
“非常”是一个如此无聊的词
Very is such a boring word.
每次我听到这个词
Every time I hear it,
我都会打哈欠
I yawn.
为什么要说“非常好”
Why say very good if you can say
如果你能说“卓越的 出色的 令人惊异的 难以置信的”
excellent, fantastic, amazing, incredible?
为什么要说“非常不好”?
Why say very bad if you can say
如果你可以说“糟糕的 可怕的 丑恶的 讨厌的”
dreadful, appalling, hideous, revolting?
停止使用“非常”这个词
Stop using the word very
开始把更多高级的形容词
and start incorporating more advanced adjectives
运用到你每天的说话和写作中
into your everyday speech and writing.
当你说话时
When you’re speaking,
尝试每一次都有意识地
try and be conscious of every time that you use
使用那些形容词
the word very and which adjective you used it with.
然后你可以去查辞典找到它们的形容词
Then you can go and search the adjective in a thesaurus
并且找到它们的同义词
and find synonyms.
“非常脏” 可以是“污秽的”或者“肮脏的”
Very dirty can be filthy or squalid.
“非常生气的”可以是“狂怒的” “非常气愤的”(同义词)
Very cross can be seething, livid.
实际上我有一个相关的视频
I actually have a video about that.
你可以去看一下
You can check it up there.
但是
But yeah.
有意识地使用这些单词
Being conscious of when you use the word very
真的非常非常有用
is very, very useful.
好尴尬啊
How ironic.
我刚刚犯了一个错误
So I just made that mistake there.
有意识地使用这些单词
Being conscious of the word very
是一个非常有用的方法
is an invaluable tool.
是不是听起来好多了?
Doesn’t that sound better?
听起来好多了吧?
Doesn’t it sound better?
我觉得是
I think it does.
我最后一个窍门可能不适用于每个人
My last tip might not be for everybody,
但是真的对我很有帮助
but it really helps me,
特别是当我等候且又无聊的时候
especially when I’m bored and waiting for something.
我是一个非常没有耐心的人
I’m an incredibly impatient person.
我讨厌等候
I hate waiting.
如果这世上有让缺乏耐心的人无法忍受的房间
And if there’s one room that an impatient person
那一定是等候室
cannot stand, it’s a waiting room.
所以我建议你把这种时间变得有意义
So I recommend that you use this time to your advantage.
当你什么都做不了的时候
When you’re doing nothing,
比如你坐在火车上的时候
say you’re sitting on a train,
坐在等候室的时候
you’re sitting in a waiting room,
任何你在等待的时候
any time you’re waiting,
做词汇检查
do vocabulary checks.
就只是坐着或者站着 然后观察
So just sit or stand and observe
你所处的房间或者区域
the room around you or the area around you
尝试着去寻找你不知道怎么说的事物
and try and find something that you don’t know how to say.
很有可能是一个名词
It’s most likely going to be a noun,
也可能是一个动词
but it could be a verb.
可能是某个人正在做的事情
It could be somebody doing something.
可能被忽略的某个人
Somebody could be skipping
然后你就想
and you think,
噢 天呐
and how to say that in Japanese
我不知道怎么用日语说那个
Japanese,er
可能是某个人拥有的一种情绪
It could be an emotion that somebody has.
只是花点时间去环顾四周
Just use that time to look around.
认真地记下来你不知道的东西
Meticulously note down what it is that you don’t know,
然后把它查出来
and then search it.
如果你在尝试着用另一种语言获取词汇
If you’re trying to acquire vocabulary in another language,
然后你可以用自己的语言写下来
then you can just write it down in your own language.
如果你真的不知道用自己的语言怎么说
It gets a bit more complicated if you don’t really know
可能会有一点复杂
how to say the word in your own language.
用你会的
Use what you can.
比如把它画下来
Take a picture of it.
如果可以的话拍下来
Video it if appropriate.
尝试去描述
Try and describe it.
用其他的话去描述
Use other words to describe it.
记下来然后跟别人讨论
Note it down and then you can talk to somebody about it.
我现在正要浏览的是
Something that I’m going through at the moment
农场词汇
is farm vocabulary.
我的男朋友是一个农场主
My boyfriend is a farmer,
我会突然发现新的设备的单词
and I have suddenly been launched into this new world
他在某一天告诉我的
of machinery and he said to me the other day,
啊 我们储存了农场的一切
“Oh, we use farm save or something.”
我也喜欢农场储存
And I was like farm save.
所以我就记下来
So I just noted it down,
然后回家
got back home,
去查询它
searched it and I’m holding it was farm save is now.
我认为当你保存你自己的种子
I think it’s when you keep your own seed
然后在下次去使用它
and then you use it the next day.
有时他必须开着拖拉机出去
Sometimes if he’s gone off in the tractor
我不得不去等他
and I have to wait for him,
我就四处观察农场并且思考
I’ll just look around the farm and I’ll think,
灾祸 挑战 拖拉机
bale, challenger, John Deere tractor,
如果有一些东西我不知道怎么说的话
and if there’s anything I don’t know how to say,
我就会问他
I will then ask him later.
对他来说这可能有点讨厌
And it might be a bit annoying for him,
但是我尽了我最大的努力
but I’m trying my best.
好了伙计们
Right guys.
这是今天的所有的知识
That’s it for today’s lesson.
希望你能学到一些东西
I hope you learned something.
希望你能喜欢
I hope you enjoyed it.
不要忘记注册领英
Don’t forget to check out lingoda.
所有相关的信息都在这个描述框里
All of the relevant information is in the description box.
这是一个非常非常好的工具
It’s a very, very good tool.
或者我应该说它是极好的工具
Or should I say it’s an excellent tool.
不要忘记与我联系哦
And don’t forget to connect with me
可以通过所有的社交媒体
on all of my social media.
比如我的脸书 Ins 或者推特
I’ve got my Facebook, my Instagram, and my Twitter.
下节课见
I will see you soon for another lesson.
么么哒
Mwwa!
我常常在我的视频最后
I’m always half tempted to put Allie
让艾力来引诱你们
at the end of my video.
可以吗?
Shall I?
好
Yeah.
欣赏艾力的舞蹈
Enjoy Allie dancing.
拜
Bye.
[音乐]
