美式俚语 FACTS fam以及t的一些发音规则

FACTS and FAM – AMERICAN SLANG

好的
FACTS.
今天是《夏季俚语》系列的最后一期
Today is the last video in the summer of slang video series.
我们要学习的是“facts”和“fam”
Today, we’re learning ‘facts’ and ‘fam’
另外 除了这两个俚语
and in addition to these 2 slang terms,
我们还会讲一下辅音丛中的/t/有何有趣的发音规则
we’re also learning something interesting about consonant clusters with T.
瑞秋英语美式发音指南
咱们从“fam”开始吧 “family”
Let’s start with fam, family.
两个词都可以形容“你的人” “你的朋友”“你的团体”
Both terms can be used to mean your people, your friends, your community, the group that’s
对你很重要的一群人
important to you.
瑞秋的英语团体 你们是我的“family”
Rachel’s English community, you are my family.
如果你要给一群朋友发信息 可以说
If you were texting a group of friends to get together, you might say: Hey fam!
“嗨 fam 你们今晚干点啥?”
What are you doing tonight?
“你真的很喜欢篮球队的姑娘们 不是吗?”
You really like the girls on your basketball team, don’t you?
“是的”
Yeah.
“她们是我的fam”
They’re my fam.
一些关于发音的小提示 这里元音/æ/是跟在辅音/m/后的
A couple pronunciation things here: We have the AA vowel followed by the M consonant.
这让它的发音有些小变化 不再是单纯的/æ/ 变成了/æʌ/
So that changes the AA vowel a little bit, it’s not pure, it morphs into an UH sound:
/fæʌm/或/fæəm/
Faa— aa-uh, aa-uh, fam, fam.
/fæʌm/ 不是单纯的/æ/ /fæm/
Fam. It’s not a pure AA, aa, faaaam.
而是/fæʌm/ /æʌ/
But fam, aa—aa—fam.
“family”这个词 多数人会发成双音节/fæʌm li/
Now, with ‘family’, most people will make that a two-syllable word, FAM-ly. FAM-ly.
也可以发成三音节 /fæʌm ə li/
It can also be three syllables: FAM-uh-li.
这样读的多数是非英语母语者
And a lot of non-native speakers do that.
我建议你发成双音节
But I suggest you stick with just two syllables,
听起来更地道
I think it sounds much more natural.
[fæʌm li]
Family.
/fæʌm li/
Family.
/fæʌm li/
Family.
/fæʌm/
Fam.
这两个词用于和你近亲 你爱的人们
Use these terms with people you love, you feel really connected to.
现在来看“FACTS”
Now, FACTS.
这个词是我一个在高中工作的朋友推荐的
This one came to me through a friend who works in a high school.
他说这个词作为一种肯定回答使用
He says it’s being used as a response, an affirmative response.
比如 “这毛衣酷毙了”
For example: That’s a dope sweater.
“FACTS”
Facts.
我在Instagram上搜了下#FACTS话题
I did a little search on #facts on Instagram
——这是个理解俚语的好方法
– always an amazing way to add context to the meaning of slang.
#FACTS已经有了超过1100万的公开贴子
#facts has over 11 million public posts.
它用于最后的总结 肯定
It’s used to be definitive.
就像是“我刚刚说的是真的!”
It’s like: What I’m saying is true.
但它也可以用作藐视
I think it can also be used to show defiance.
比如 你那么觉得 但我这么觉得
It’s like, you say that, but I say this.
然后我说“FACTS”
And I say, facts.
我根本不关心你的看法
Because I don’t care what you say.
视频描述下有Instagram #FACTS 话题的链接
Check the link in the video description to see all of these public posts on Instagram
你们可以去看看
and explore them.
体会下FACTS不同用法的细微差别
See if you can build nuance for your understanding of the word and use of FACTS.
另外它的写法一般是全大写
Also, in writing it’s common to put this in ALL CAPS.
咱们再来聊一聊发音
Let’s talk about the pronunciation.
在美式口语中 两个辅音中间的/t/我们经常不发音
In American English, we often drop the T between two other consonants.
这个视频中的“FACTS”也是一样
We do that here most of the time.
/fæks/
Facts.
/fæks/
Facts.
好像视频里我有一次 发了一个轻微的/t/音 “facts”/fækts/
I think once in this video, I did a really light T release: facts.
但通常情况下 我们发成/fæks/
But usually, we just say: facts.
/fæks/
Facts.
不要试图去发/t/音 只发/ks/就可以了
So don’t think about trying to make a T sound, just make KS.
/fæks/
Facts.
省略/t/后 读音会听起来像“fax”
When you do this, it will sound just like this word: fax.
但没关系
That’s okay.
根据上下文就可以区分这两个词
Context is there to helps us tell the two words apart.
所以两个辅音中间的/t/我们经常不发音
So we often drop the T between 2 other consonants.
再举几个常见的例子 比如“directly”
A couple other common words in which we can do this: directly, directly.
我没有发/t/音
I’m not saying the T there.
因为它处在两个辅音中间
It comes between 2 consonants.
“exactly”
Exactly, exactly!
“perfectly” “你做的很perfectly”
Perfectly, you did that perfectly.
那么 什么适合用俚语 什么时候不适合呢?
When is it okay to use slang, and when do you want to make sure you’re NOT using slang?
我会在《夏季俚语》系列的下一个视频里讲解
I go over this in video 2 of the summer of slang series.

另外我还和丈夫开了个播客栏目 他在高中工作
I also made a great podcast with my husband, who works in a high school, and is therefore
所以话题总是会聊到俚语
surrounded by slang constantly.

I know, I got really creative with that name, didn’t I?
