常见英语语法错误之介词“to”的用法

Common English Grammar Mistakes with Prepositions | Using ‘to’ | English Lesson for beginners.

Hi guys, welcome to the lesson,
大家好 欢迎观看这节课
and today we are going to
今天我们要
learn about the preposition “to”.
学习介词“to”
Yes, this is one of the most common prepositions in English,
是的 这是英语中最常见的介词之一
and I have seen that my students
但我看到我的学生们
face a lot of problem with this preposition.
在这个介词上面临很多问题
So I decided to do this lesson for all of you
因此我决定为大家制作这节课
so that you can get rid of all your confusion
以消除大家的困惑
about where to use “to” and where not to use “to”.
搞明白哪里要用“to” 哪里不要用“to”
So watch this complete lesson.
所以请完整观看这节课
My name is Michelle, and let’s get started.
我叫Michelle 让我们开始吧
So here we are guys.
我们开始讲解
We have a couple of sentences with us on the board,
在白板上有一些例句
and we are going to find out which sentences are correct,
我们要找出哪些是正确的
and which sentences are incorrect.
哪些是错误的
And for all the incorrect sentences, we’ll try to make them correct.
对于那些错误的句子 我们将试着纠正它们
So let’s start with the first one.
来从第一个句子开始
What do you think is wrong in this sentence?
你们认为这个句子有什么问题?
“I’m going the party.”
“I’m going the party.”
I’m sure for those of you who have been speaking English for some time,
我相信对于资深英语学习者来说
you may have already made the correct guess.
你们可能已经猜出正确答案了
So the thing is the main verb here is “go”
这里的问题在于主动词是“go”
and with “go”, we mostly use “to”.
而大部分情况下“go”要与“to”搭配
So we will be saying “I’m going to the party.” Okay?
因此我们该说“I’m going to the party.”
What about if you’re going to “New York”?
如果你要去“纽约”又该怎样说呢?
You will also add “to” there.
你同样要在这加上“to”
You’ll say “going to New York”.
你该说“going to New York”
Okay. And how about “work”?
好 那么如果接“work”又该如何?
Okay, if you went, as in if you went to work,
如果你去过 就像要表达如果你曾去工作
which means you went there in the past,
这意味着你过去曾去过那里
so there also we have added “to”.
那么我们也要在那加上“to”
“went to work”.
“went to work”
So as you can see
正如你们能看到的
that we have used “to” with “go”, alright,
我们把“to”与“go”搭配在一起 是的
with “going” and also with “went”.
与“going”还有“went”也搭配在一起
So this means with all the forms of “go”,
这意味着与“go”的所有形式
we have used “to”.
我们都用到了“to”去搭配
Now let’s look at the next sentence
现在来看下面这句
and find out if there are some exceptions to this rule, okay?
来看看这个规则是否有例外
Read this one. “I’m going to home.”
读读这句 “I’m going to home.”
What do you think, is this correct or incorrect?
你怎么看 这正确还是不正确?
Well if you are just a person who has started speaking English,
如果你只是个英语初学者
to you, this might seem right.
对你来说 这可能看上去是正确的
You might think it’s okay to say that,
你可能认为可以那么说
but that is the problem.
但是那正是问题所在
Most of my students say,
我的大部分学生说
“I am going to home”, which is wrong
“I’m going to home.” 是错误的
because we do not use “to” with “home”.
因为不能把“to”与“home”搭配在一起
So what we are going to do is,
所以我们要做的是
we are going to cut “to” here.
要把“to”去掉
Now let’s read it. “I’m going home.”
现在来读一下 “I’m going home.”
This is a correct and a complete sentence.
这才是一个正确且完整的句子
You do not need “to” here.
这里不需要“to”
Now other than “home”, there are some more words
除了“home” 还有其他一些单词
with which you don’t need to add “to”, okay?
也不需要用“to”与之搭配
So although we have “go” here, but we do not use “to”.
因此尽管这里有“go” 但我们不用“to”
The same way if you take for example, the word “somewhere”.
如果遇到如“somewhere”之类单词 用法一样
Okay. Can you make a sentence with “go” and “somewhere”?
你能用“go”和“somewhere”造个句吗?
Okay, let’s try this.
我们来尝试一下
“I need to go to somewhere”,
“I need to go to somewhere.”
or “I need to go somewhere”?
还是“I need to go somewhere.”?
You need to go somewhere.
“You need to go somewhere.”
So the same way, we have not used “to” with “somewhere”.
同样 我们没用“to”去搭配“somewhere”
Now think of another word, think of “inside”.
现在想想另一个词 “inside”
Please make a sentence with “go” and “inside”.
请用“go”和“inside”造个句
“I have to go inside.”
“I have to go inside.”
So just like “home” and “somewhere”,
就像“home”和“somewhere”一样
we have not used “to” with “inside” or “outside”.
我们没用“to”与“inside”或“outside”搭配
Now we have another word in English with which we do not use “to”,
英语中还有另一个单词不用“to”搭配
and that is “there”.
那就是“there”
So if you are saying that you need to go “there”,
所以如果你说你需要去“there”
you will not say “I will need to go to there.”
你不会说“I will need going to there.”
You will say “I need to go there.”
你要说“I need to go there.”
So unlike the first one, “I’m going to the party”,
不像第一句 “I’m going to the party.”
or “I need to go to the party”,
或者“I need to go to the party.”
you will say “I need to go there”
你该说“I need to go there.”
and not “I need to go to there”.
而不是“I need to go to there.”
So other than these, we have another word
除了这些 还有另一个词
with which we don’t use “to”,
我们不用“to”去搭配
and that is “there”.
那就是“there”
How about “downstairs” or “upstairs”
对于“downstairs”或者“upstairs”又如何呢?
as in when you are taking the staircase
就像当你要用到楼梯间
or when you’re going upwards,
或者当你要去楼上
you always use the stairs.
你总是要用到楼梯
So do you say that “I need to go to upstairs”?
那么你会说“I need to go to upstairs”吗?
No, you say “I need to go upstairs” or “I need to go downstairs”.
不 你该说“I need to go upstairs.”或“I need to go downstairs.”
Okay so now I hope you have understood the first rule
我希望你们现在已理解第一条规则了
that we mostly use “to” with the verb “go”,
即大多数情况下“to”与动词“go”搭配用
like this one.
就像这一句
But there are some exceptions to this rule.
但是这个规则有一些例外
So with words like home, and somewhere,
对于一些单词如“home” “somewhere”
inside, outside, there, or upstairs, or downstairs,
“inside” “outside” “there” 或 “upstairs” 或“downstairs”
with all of these words we do not use “to”,
对这些单词尽管我们用到了“go”
even though we use “go”, okay?
也不用“to”去搭配
So I hope this rule has been clear to you.
希望你们已经明白了这条规则
Now with this we move to the next rule about using “to”.
那么在此基础上 来看“to”的下条规则
Let’s read the sentence.
我们读一下这个句子
“We arrived to the airport.”
“We arrived to the airport.”
What do you think, is there something wrong with it?
你们怎么看 它有什么问题吗?
Well yes. What is wrong here is that
是的 这里错误之处是
we always use “to” with “go”,
我们总是用“to”搭配“go”
but we don’t use “to” with “arrive”, okay?
但不用“to”去搭配“arrive”
We never use “to” with “arrive”.
我们绝不会用“to”去搭配“arrive”
“Arrive” means to reach somewhere, okay?
“arrive”意味着到达某个地方
“Arrive” means to reach somewhere.
“arrive”意味着到达某个地方
Now let’s read the sentence like this.
现在我们像这样读这个句子
“We arrived the airport.”
“We arrived the airport.”
Oh there’s something still wrong with it, right?
哦 这里还是有些问题 对吧?
It looks kind of missing and incomplete.
它看上去缺了点什么 不完整
“We arrived…” We need a preposition in this sentence, okay?
“We arrived…” 需加个介词到该句子里
And for airport because we are using the word “arrived”,
且对于机场 由于用了词“arrived”
we will use “at”, okay?
我们要用“at”
Now think about it like this,
现在像这样想一下
if you had “go” instead of “arrived”,
如果你用“go”代替“arrived”
how will you make the sentence?
你会如何造这个句?
You will say “we went at the airport”
你会说“We went at the airport.”
or “we need to go to the airport”?
还是“We need to go to the airport.”?
Yes, it’s okay to use “to” with airport when we have “go”,
是的 “go”存在时用“to”连接机场是可以的
but it’s wrong to use “to” with “arrive”, okay?
但用“to”搭配“arrive”却不对
So here, we will replace “to” with “at”.
所以这里要用“at”去代替“to”
Okay, now let’s look at the next sentence.
现在来看看下个句子
“When will you arrive to London?”
“When will you arrive to London?”
So like the previous sentence we will not use “to” with “arrive”.
与前句一样 我们不会用“to”与“arrive”搭配
So let’s remove this.
因此要去掉这个
How will you complete the sentence?
你将如何完善这个句子?
“When will you arrive in London?”
“When will you arrive in London?”
Yes that’s the appropriate preposition here
是的 “in”是适合这里的介词
instead of “to”, okay?
而不是“to”
Great! So this is how we use this.
很好 这就是介词运用方法
Now let’s look at the next one.
现在来看下一句
“You should to read more books.”
“You should to read more books.”
What do you think is wrong in this sentence?
你们认为这个句子有什么问题?
Do we need “to” here or do we not need “to” here?
这里是否需要“to”呢?
Think about it. Well.
想一想 好吧
We don’t need “to” in this sentence.
这个句子中我们不需要“to”
“You should read more books.”
“You should read more books.”
So basically, “should” is a form of modal, okay?
本质上 “should”是情态动词的一种形式
And with modals we don’t use “to”.
而对于情态动词我们不用“to”去搭配
For example,
例如
“She will read more books.”
“She will read more books.”
Okay? You don’t need to add “to” there as well
在那你也不需要加上“to”
because we already have a modal which is “will” or “should”.
因为已有一个情态动词“will”或“should”
So that’s why you don’t need to add “to”.
那就是你不需要加上“to”的原因
Now let’s look at the next one.
再来看看下一句
“I must to take this medicine.”
“I must to take this medicine.”
So the same rule applies here, okay?
这里遵循同样的规则
You will say “I must take this medicine”
你该说“I must take this medicine.”
and not “I must to take this medicine.”
而不是“I must to take this medicine.”
But do you know we can change this sentence still?
但你可知道该句还可以变换一下?
If you want to not change the meaning,
如果你不想改变句子的意思
if you want to keep the meaning same and add “to”,
如果你想加上“to”且保持原意
then what you will do is “I…”
那么你要做的是“I…”
You could say “I need to take this medicine.”
你可以说“I need to take this medicine.”
So you have added “to”, but you have changed the modal verb.
这样你就加上了“to” 但也改变了情态动词
So with “must”, you never say “to”,
因此对于“must” 你决不能说“to”
but with “need” you can say “to”
但对于“need”你可以说“to”
Okay Now with this, we look at the next one.
现在带着这个来看看下一句
“She can to buy a car.”
“She can to buy a car.”
Again, since you have understood the rule,
同样的 既然你理解了这个规则
you will know that we don’t need to add “to” here
你就知道这里不需要加上“to”
because “can” is a modal verb,
因为“can”是一个情态动词
which talks about ability.
它与能力有关
So you should say “she can buy a car”
因此你该说“she can buy a car”
which means that she has the ability to buy a car, okay,
意思是她有能力去买辆车
means she may have that much money that she can buy a car.
意思是她可能有足够的钱让她能够买辆车
Now we can add “to” to this sentence also,
我们也可以在这个句子里加上“to”
but for that we need to change the modal verb “can”.
但为此我们需要变换情态动词“can”
How will we do that?
我们该怎么做?
You could say
你可以说
“she is able to buy a car.”
“She is able to buy a car.”
Yes, so here we have changed
是的 在这我们将情态动词
the modal verb from “can” to “is able”,
由“can”变成了“is able”
and that’s why we can add “to”.
那就是可以加上“to”的原因
But otherwise, when you write “can”,
否则 如果你用“can”
or when you write “must”, or when you write “should”,
或用“must” 或“should”
or when you write “will”, you should not use “to”
或“will” 你就不应该用“to”
because we don’t use “to” with modal verbs.
因为我们不用“to”与情态动词搭配
So I hope that rule was clear to you.
我希望你们理解了那条规则
Now with this, we look at the next rule about using “to”.
学完这个 来看看关于用“to”的下条规则
“The locked door stops people to enter.”
“The locked door stops people to enter.”
So what do you think is that a correct statement?
那么你们认为那是个正确的句子吗?
Let’s read it again.
再来读一遍
“The locked door stops people to enter.”
“The locked door stops people to enter.”
Well no, there is a mistake in this sentence.
好吧不对 这个句子存在一个错误
Let me help you.
我来帮你
“The locked door stops people…”
“The locked door stops people…”
We will not use “to” with “stop”.
我们不会用“to”与“stop”搭配
We never use “to” with the word “stop” or “prevent”.
绝不会用“to”与单词“stop”或“prevent”搭配
So what do we do? The sentence is still incomplete.
那么我们该怎么做?这个句子仍不完整
“The locked door stops people enter.”
“The locked door stops people enter.”
We are going to add another word to this sentence
我们要在这个句子中多加一个单词
to make it correct, okay?
以使其正确
Now this is a correct sentence.
现在这是一个正确的句子
“The locked door stops people from entering.”
“The locked door stops people from entering.”
Yes, so the rule here is that
是的 所以这里的规则是
we cannot use “to” with the word “stop” or “prevent”.
不能用“to”与单词“stop”或“prevent”搭配
Instead of that, we have an object which is “the locked door”
与其那样 因为有“the locked door”这个宾语
and the word we are talking about which is “stops”
而且我们讨论的单词是“stops”
then we have “from” and the main verb is in “ing”
且“from”后的主动词该是动名词形式
so you say “the locked door stops people… “
因此你要说“the locked door stops people…”
“from entering” and not “enter”, okay.
“from entering”而不是“enter”
So I hope you understood this rule as well
希望你们也理解了这条规则
and with this we move to the next one.
学完这个我们去看看下一句
“The boss lets us to leave work early.”
“The boss lets us to leave work early.”
So do we use “to” with the word “let”? Mm-hmm?
那么该用“to”与单词“let”搭配吗?嗯?
No. We never use the word “to” with “let”.
不 我们绝不用“to”与“let”搭配
So if you see “the boss lets us leave work early”,
如果你看见”The boss lets us leave work early.”
this is a complete sentence
这是一个完整的句子
and there is no mistake in this, okay?
而且没有错误
It’s a complete sentence.
这是个完整的句子
But if you think of adding the word “allow” in the sentence
但如果你想把单词“allow”加进该句
so let’s replace “lets” with “allow”,
那么来用“allow”代替“lets”
“The boss…”, sorry,
“The boss…” 不好意思
“the boss allows us
“The boss allows us…
leave work early.”
leave work early. “
What do you think about the sentence now?
现在你们怎么看这个句子?
“The boss allows us leave work early.”
“The boss allows us leave work early.”
Do you think it’s a complete sentence?
你认为这是个完整的句子吗?
No. Here we will add “to”.
不 这里我们要加上“to”
So “allows” and “lets” has the same meaning
尽管“allows”和“lets”意思相同
just like “must” and “need”, okay?
就像“must”和“need”一样
But the catch here is that
但这里要注意的是
with “allows” we always use “to”.
与“allows”我们总是用“to”去搭配
“The boss allows us to leave work early”,
“The boss allows us to leave work early.”
which means he lets you leave work early.
意思是他让你早点收工
And in the first sentence we do not use “to”
在第一句里我们不用“to”
because we are using “let”.
因为我们用了“let”
So do remember that with “let”, we never use “to”
所以必须记住 对“let”决不能用“to”去搭配
but we can always use “to” with “allows” or “able” or “need”.
但总要用“to”与“allows”或“able”或“need”搭配
Okay, now with this we look at the last sentence for the day
好了 学完这个我们来看看今天最后一句
which is “I like to hear to music.”
它是“I like to hear to music.”
So of course if you’re a beginner level speaker
当然 如果你是初学者水平
or if you just started speaking English
或者如果你才开始说英语
then you might think this is okay.
那么你可能认为这句话是对的
But the catch here is that
但这里要注意的是
we don’t use “to” with “hear”, okay?
我们不用“to”与“hear”搭配
So the correct sentence would be,
所以正确的句子应该是
“I like to hear music”, okay?
“I like to hear music.”
Now what do you think is another word for “hear”?
现在想想还有什么单词代替“hear”?
Another word for “hear” is “listen”.
代替“hear”的另一单词是“listen”
So let’s try to make the sentence with “listen”.
来尝试用“listen”去造这个句
“I like to listen music.”
“I like to listen music.”
Okay, now is this correct? “I like to listen music.”
现在正确吗?“I like to listen music.”
Well now we need to know that
现在我们需要知道
with “listen” we always add “to”, okay?
对于“listen”我们总是要加上“to”
You will say “I like to listen to music.”
你要说“I like to listen to music.”
But when you use “hear”, you will say
但当你用“hear”时 你要说
“I like to hear music” without a “to”.
“I like to hear music”不需加“to”
So this is a little bit confusing
这有些让人困惑
and these are certain exceptions that
但这些就是你们需要
you need to learn and memorize.
学习和记住的一些例外
Rewind the video if you’ve not completely memorized the rules
若还没完全记得这些规则 请回放该视频
and watch it again so that you can remember the rules properly.
并再看一次以便能正确地记住这些规则
So do remember that with the modal verbs like
一定要记住 对于情态动词比如
must, should, can, you cannot use “to”.
“must” “should” “can” 你不能用“to”
But if you want to replace them with “need” or “is able”,
但如果你想用“need”或“is able”代替它们
you can use “to” there.
你就能用“to”
You never use “to” with “arrive”, okay.
你绝不用“to”去搭配“arrive”
And the same way with “go”, sometimes you can use it
对“go”也一样 有时你能用它
but there are exceptions when you cannot use it,
但在有些例外情况下你不能用它
for words like home, somewhere, inside, outside.
例如在用“home” “somewhere” “inside” “outside”等单词时
And towards the end we learned
课程的最后 我们学习了
that we cannot use “to” with “let” or “hear”
不能用“to”去搭配“let”或“hear”
but at the same time we can use “to” with “allow” or “listen”.
但同时却能用“to”与“allow”或“listen”搭配
So this is the end of the lesson guys
今天的课程就到这里
and I hope today you have understood
我希望你们今天理解了
when to use “to” and when not to use “to”.
什么时候用或者不用“to”
So I hope you will not make a mistake with this preposition anymore.
所以我希望你们不会再在这个介词上犯错
I’ll see you guys very soon in another lesson.
我将很快在另一节课上与大家见面
Till then you take care and have fun, bye-bye.
在那之前祝你们健康开心 再见
