Chinese Guqin
约2000年前 有一个古琴名家俞伯牙
Over two thousand years ago ,there lived a Guqin virtuso named YuBo ya
抚琴技艺无人能及
Whose talent was second to none
却没有能真正懂他音乐的人
There was no one who truly understood his music
他遇见一个樵夫 钟子期
He met a woodcutter ZhongZi qi
伯牙为他弹奏了一曲 高山流水
And played him lofty mountains and flowing water
钟子期说高音部分就像巍峨高山屹立在我面前
ZhongZiqi commented “the high-pitched part represents the mighty mountains
而低音部分
and the low-pitched part
宛如奔腾不息的江河从我心中流过
the endless flowing water
伯牙心中狂喜
wild with joy
伯牙终于找到了他的知音
Boya has finally found his soulmate .
钟子期逝世后
When ZhongZi qi passed away
伯牙心痛难忍
YuBo ya was aggrevied
于是 他将自己的爱琴摔碎
He smashed his beloved Guqin to pieces

王鹏所用的大多数木料都是在明朝用于做房屋木梁的
Most of the timber Wang Peng uses is the same used to make beams for houses in Ming Dynasty
过了好几百年

这些木料散尽水气 完完全全变干了
Those beams lost their moisture and were completely dried
木料更结实
They became sturider
但你还要看它的年轮
But You have to see its growth ring
是否每年长的均衡
You need see if it’s balance during the year
而不是一年突然长很大 另一年天很冷长得很小
rather than become strong or weak in winter abruptly during the year

但他总把自己称作制作古琴的匠人

制作古琴的工艺叫做斫琴
Guqin making is called Zhuoqin
斫的本意是指用刀 斧等劈砍
The original meaning of zhuo is to cut and chop

上面微拱的木板是梧桐木
The slightly arched board on the top is made of Chinese Parasol wood
琴箱底部有两个不规则的孔用来放大声音
the board of the base has two irregular holes to amplify the sound
由梧桐木制成
and is made of wood
合在一起就成了木胎

一般是希望声音越大越好 但古琴不是

古琴的创制距今已有三千多年

要制一把好琴就要遵照传统制法
灰胎上漆耗时最长
反复涂抹达20次
涂抹生漆和鹿角灰的灰胎能控制音量
这么厚一层灰胎
它是不让它震动
来调节这种韵味绵长有度的感觉

古琴被列入《人类非物质文化遗产名录》
在此之前 中国制琴师不超过10人
