Breath和Breathe:发音和语法

Breath vs. Breathe – Pronunciation and Grammar

Breath vs. Breathe
Breath vs. Breathe
即使是英语为母语的人也有可能犯错哒
Even native speakers mess this one up.
本节视频我们来学习一下这两个词的区别
In this video, you’ll learn the difference between these two words.
名词呼吸vs 动词呼吸
Breath vs. breathe.
结尾没有e的Breath/brɛθ/是名词 呼吸
Breath, with no E at the end, is a noun.
特别冷的时候你可以看见自己的呼吸哦
And when it’s really cold, you can see your breath.
我们一起来看看这里是不是真的冷到能看到我的呼吸呢?
Let’s see if it’s cold enough in here to see my breath.
哈……哈……
Hhhh……
够冷吗?你们看到了吗?
Is it cold enough?Could you see it?
那breathe是怎么回事呢?
What about breathe?
这个词以e结尾
This has an E on the end.
现在你可以看出来我在做呼吸的动作 这是一个动词
And now you can see me breathe, it’s a verb.
如果我非常夸张的大声呼吸 你就能看见我的呼吸动作哦
If I breathe very dramatically and loudly, you can see it.
呼吸
Breathe.
就算是英语国家的人在书写时也会混淆这两个词
Even native speakers mix these up when writing.
就前两天我在facebook上看到这条留言
Just the other day, I saw this comment on Facebook.
“我太爱米歇尔·奥巴马啦!我几乎都不能呼出的气了”
“I love Michelle Obama so much I can hardly breath.”
这里就错了
This is the wrong word.
应该用以e结尾的动词breathe来表示呼吸
It should be “breathe”, the verb, with an E at the end.
这可是英语为母语的人写出来的话
The person who wrote this is a native speaker.
上过大学的
Went to college.
聪明人
Smart.
所以我们都有可能犯这样的错误
So, these kinds of mistakes can happen to any of us.
所以你在书写的时候记着e结尾的是动词
So when you’re writing, remember the letter E makes the verb,
因为“动词”这个词本身就包含一个e在里面哦 这样想能帮助你记忆
and the word AERB has a letter E in it so maybe that will help you remember.
现在我们开始探讨这两个词在发音上的区别吧
Now, let’s talk about the difference in pronunciation.
名词breath以不发音的th结尾
The noun, breath, ends with the unvoiced TH
舌头要伸出来一点在上下齿中间 放松 是气息从中间的缝隙中自由流出
The tongue must come through the teeth and be relaxed so that the air can flow freely.
/θ/
Thhh……
breath
Breath.
元音ɛ是和单词bed中的元音发音一样的
The vowel here is the EH as in BED vowel.
/ε/ brea–
EH. Brea–
你的下巴向下 舌中部抬起
So your jaw drops, and the middle of the tongue lifts,
/ɛ/ brea–
EH. Brea–
Breath
Breath.
如果是在末尾加上了e使其变成动词 那在发音上就会有两点不同
If you add an E at the end to make the verb, it changes two things about the pronunciation,
元音和th
the vowel and the TH.
元音变成了和单词she中的元音发音一致 读作/i:/
The vowel becomes the EE as in SHE vowel.
/i:/ breathe
EE. Breathe.
舌尖保持向下
So the tongue tip stays down
并且舌前端向上口腔拱起
and the front part of the tongue arches towards the roof of the mouth.
因为这个元音 它(breathe的发音)的舌头要翘的更高
It’s pretty high up there for this vowel.
/i:/ breathe
EE. Breathe.
th这个辅音发音就改变为浊辅音
And the consonant changes to the voiced TH. Thh– thh–
虽然发音位置相同但需要用声带来发声
So it’s the same tongue position but you’re making the sound with the vocal cords.
/th/ breathe
Th– breathe.
因此当一个单词像breathe(一样)以辅音结尾时
Now, when a word ends in a voiced consonant like ‘breathe’,
而不是一个不发音的辅音字母 例如breath
instead of an unvoiced consonant like ‘breath’,
这使得单词有点长以及音节要重读
it makes the word a little longer, the stressed syllable.
因此要把元音(发音)拉的更长
So hold out that vowel a little more.
这些单词有一部分不同是因为长度
Part of the difference between these two words is the length.
Breath Breathe
Breath. Breathe. Breathe.
你可以听见我把元音(的发音)拉得更长
You can hear I’m holding out that vowel just a little bit more.
Breath vs breathe
Breath vs. breathe.
现在你知道了(两者的)不同 你可以更自信的说这两个单词或者写这两个单词
Now you know the difference and you can say these two words, or write these two words with confidence.
